He married (1) Helen Louise Stenger or Hynes was born on 24 Apr 1902 in Massillon, Stark Co., OH. She died on 20 Apr 1928 in Summit Co., OH. Leonard married (2) Hattie E. Judson between 1934-1936. She was born in May 1888 in Medina Co., OH. She died on 26 May 1965 in Barberton, Summit Co., OH. Leonard married (3) Abbie Grace Beardsley, daughter of Samuel Limon Beardsley and Lucretia McCormick on 10 Sep 1968 in Summit Co., OH. She was born on 12 Sep 1902 in Washington Co., OH. She died on 10 Jan 1985 in Summit Co., OH. He married (4) Olivia Adeene Grunning, daughter of Edward Grunning and Clara Knudston on 14 Feb 1990 in Wayne Co., OH. She was born on 19 Jul 1912 in Madison, Dane Co., WI. She died on 02 Mar 2001 in Wayne Co., OH. Leonard Raymond Meeks and Helen Louise Stenger had the following children:

1. Howard Emerson Meeks married Kathryn Barbara Vodopia, daughter of Anton Vodopia and Anna M. Tandaric on 23 Feb 1946 in Barberton, Summit Co., OH.

 2. Jeanette Elizabeth Meeks married (1) John Charles Komara on 17 Aug 1977 in Nevada, USA. She married (2) Richard Hiram Holm, son of Elmer Holm and Nora Secrist on 29 Apr 1944 in Summit Co., OH

3. Rhea Mae Meeks married Victor John Casserman, son of Jacob Casserman and Jennie Branisel on 17 Sep 1949 in Summit Co., OH

I would really love to know more about this family, especially Helen. I don't have much information about her.

I am going to do the best I can typing up what is written on the back of these photos. It's in Croatian, and some of the handwriting is hard to make out. Please let me know if you can help identify anyone in these photos. Sorry about the lines on a couple of them. I don't know why my computer is doing that.

There's nothing on the back, but I think the woman on the right is the same as in the photo above.

This is the same family again. The handwriting is very hard to read on the back of this one.

1920 Stark County, Ohio census

The Tandaric family is listed on line 75 of the 1920 Stark County census. Matt or Mata is listed here as Nat. Their son in law, George, and daughter, Mary, are listed just below them. They had another daughter, Anna a twin of Mary, who was married and lived in Summit County Ohio. They had a son, Joseph, who was born after this census in 1922.

Mata/Matt Tandaric was born 09 Aug 1879 in Velika Grljevac, Croatia and died on 16 Mar 1953, probably in Stark Co., OH. He married Bara/Barbara Markovic on 25 May 1903 in Tanovcj, Yugoslavia. I don't know where Tanovcj is, as I have not been able to find it in Croatia or Yugoslavia. Barbara was born 22 Mar 1880 in Velika Grljevac, Croatia., which is on the coast of southern Croatia.

They had six children:

1. Anna M. Tandaric, born 04 Aug 1904 in Velika Mlinska, Croatia; died 15 Jun 1981 in Summit Co., OH. She married Anton Vodopia on 11 Aug 1919 in Navarre, Stark Co., OH.
2. Mary A. Tandaric, born 04 Aug 1904 in Velika Mlinska, Croatia; died 20 Feb 1994 in Navarre, Stark Co., OH. On 25 Nov 1918 she married Misko Vugric, who later changed his name to George Frank Benkovich.
3. Frank Tandaric, born 14 Aug 1911 in Barberton, Summit Co., OH; died 05 Nov 1998 in Allegheny Co., PA.
4. Catherine Tandaric, born 18 Jul 1913 in Brewster, Stark Co., OH; died Aft. 1981. She married Maseric.
5. Mildred Tandaric, born 18 Mar 1918 in Brewster, Stark Co., OH; died Aug 1987 in Stark Co., OH. She married George Vissoc.
6. Joseph A. "Joe" Tandaric, born 19 Jan 1922 in Brewster, Stark Co., OH; died 15 Nov 2001 in Stark Co., OH.

Unknown Croatian wedding photos

These are some of the pictures that were Kathryn Vodopia Meeks had at her home at her death. Her parents were Anton Vodopia and Anna Tandarić. Anton was born in Kaniska Iva, and Anna was born in Velika Mlinska. Many of pictures have been written on the back in Croatian. I've done my best to include those notes here, but some of the handwriting is hard to make out. Please contact me if you can identify anyone in these photos, or if you can translate the Croatian.

There was a Josef Vodopia who had a son named Luka. Josef (1895-1947) was the son of Blaz Vodopia and Kata Vojkovic.

Unknown Andersons

Here are a few more unknown faces. If you can identify any of these, please contact me. These are all probably related to the Anderson family. Several are marked "Lora Z. Beck Olney, Illinois" and the family did live in Jasper County near Olney, Illinois.

This woman looks a lot like Emma and Sarah Anderson. Emma and Sarah had a sister named Susan, so maybe this is her.

This is probably the same woman as the photo above.

I don't know who this man is, but he favors the Andersons also.

I'm just guessing that this woman is also related to the Andersons just because of the photographer's stamp at the bottom, "Lora Z. Beck Olney, Ill."

Lewis Moore grave

Lewis G. Moore is buried in White Co., AR near Floyd. There are stones under some white oak trees, Lewis Moore, his wife Susan Carlton, and their son Jim, born in 1857, and the unknown grave of a child. The 4 graves are marked with rocks, Lewis' grave is the only one with a readable gravestone. A log schoolhouse that also served as the Floyd church was built near the gravesite.

Lewis was born on 25 Mar 1833. He enlisted in the Confederate army on 24 Jun 1862. In 1873 he bought 280 acres of land in section 28 of White County. Lewis died around 1874.

The cabin built by Lewis Moore was moved to its present location near the graves. Two of the rooms are from the original cabin.

To get to the Moore Cemetery in Floyd, take Highway 31 north about 1/2 mile from AR 305. There is a road on the right that leads to Reed Access, Lake Barnett. About 200 yards past the Reed Access Road to Lake Barnett, the old house is on the right.

Columbus L. Moore and Mary J. Cato marriage license

This is the marriage record for Columbus Lewis Moore and Mary J. Cato. They were married in White County, AR on 13 Dec 1894. White Co. marriage records are on microfilm at the public library in Searcy, and I had gotten a copy of this a while back. But I wanted a better copy, so I went to the courthouse. They will not let you make photocopies, as the books are very old. So I had to settle for a picture.

What's puzzling to me about this marriage record, is that it states Columbus married Mrs. Mary J. Cato. Could she have been widowed previously? I searched the marriage records for a Mr. Cato that married a Mary, M., or J. and found nothing. There is an Emmett (Amos) Cato in the 1880 census listed with his wife Mary E. and children. There is a Sarah J. Cato listed with him, age 11. She would have been born around 1869, as was Mary. Could Mary and Sarah possibly be the same person? Possibly Mary changed her name because of her family background. Bonnie Baker-Palmer has some interesting information on the Cato family that you can read here. According to her, Sarah J. Cato married Lum Moore. Could Lum Moore be Columbus Moore and Sarah J. Cato be Mrs. Mary J. Cato?
