Unknown Andersons

Here are a few more unknown faces. If you can identify any of these, please contact me. These are all probably related to the Anderson family. Several are marked "Lora Z. Beck Olney, Illinois" and the family did live in Jasper County near Olney, Illinois.

This woman looks a lot like Emma and Sarah Anderson. Emma and Sarah had a sister named Susan, so maybe this is her.

This is probably the same woman as the photo above.

I don't know who this man is, but he favors the Andersons also.

I'm just guessing that this woman is also related to the Andersons just because of the photographer's stamp at the bottom, "Lora Z. Beck Olney, Ill."

1880 Jasper Co., IL census

James W. Anderson appears with his family in the 1880 Jasper Co., IL census. He is listed with his wife Emma, daughter Martha, son August, and his brother Felix Thomas "Tom". James and Tom were the sons of Felix and Martha Anderson. James was the oldest, and Tom the youngest. Felix died between 1865 and 1870 and Martha apparently died between 1870 and 1880, based on the census records.

1870 Jasper Co., IL census

The Andersons appear in the 1870 Jasper Co., IL census beginning on line 8. Martha married Felix Anderson, who died between 1865 and 1870. Their son Thomas Felix "Tom" Anderson was born 1866 and died in 1907, and he married Julia Anne Gwaltney.

Roy Anderson and family

Leroy "Roy" Anderson was born Sep 1861 in IL. He was the son of Felix Anderson and Martha. He married Maggie. She was born Feb 1863 in IL, and died Bet. 1900 - 1910.
According to census records, Roy was a locomotive engineer. He was the older brother of Felix Thomas "Tom" Anderson.
Children of Leroy Anderson and Maggie are:
1. Clara Anderson, born Jun 1888 in IL.
2. Edna Anderson, born Jun 1890 in IL.
3. Irene Anderson, born Dec 1894 in IL.

Mystery Photo

This old family photo was found at my husband's grandma's house, and we don't know who he is. We think he could be from the Anderson Family. Felix Thomas "Tom" Anderson had 3 brothers, James W. (b. about 1849 in Indiana), Wilford (b. about 1859 in Illionois), and Leroy "Roy" (b. about 1861 in Illinois). Their father was Felix Anderson, b. about 1827 in Indiana, and died between 1865 and 1870. He married Martha Jane Underwood in 1847, she was born around 1829 in Indiana. There were also 3 daughters, Sarah (b. about 1850 in Indiana) and married Richard Lewis. Susan (b. about 1852 in Indiana). Emma (b. 9 Jul 1858, d. 8 Sep 1940). Emma married George F. Richards. The family was in the 1850 census in Jefferson Co., IN and in the 1860 & 1870 censuses both in Jasper Co., IL. James W. Anderson appears in the 1880 Jasper Co., IL census with his family. Hattie Mae Anderson

Hattie May Anderson was born on 03 Jan 1898 in Van Buren Co., AR and died 25 Sep 1982 in AR. She married (1) James Wesley Harger on 12 Nov 1937. She married (2) Reverand Jason W. Moore on 16 Jul 1957. Both were Methodist ministers. She graduated from Arkansas State Teacher's College and was a teacher for many years. She was buried on 28 Sep 1982 in Linwood Cemetery in Paragould, Greene Co., AR.

Luke Anderson

Luke Anderson was the son of Felix Thomas "Tom" Anderson and Julia Anne Gwaltney. He was born 07 Feb 1905 in Heber Springs, Cleburne Co., AR, and died Nov 1981 in Paragould, Greene Co., AR. He married (1) Esther Sweet. He married (2) Lorine. He is buried in Heber Springs Cemetery, Cleburne Co., AR.

Mark Anderson

Mark Anderson was born 07 Feb 1905 in Heber Springs, Cleburne Co., AR and died 16 Jul 1969 in Baltimore, MD. While he was going to school, he worked as a cook at a Little Rock hospital, then enlisted in the military. Mark enlisted on 07 Apr 1942 in Chicago, IL as a cook. He is buried in Heber Springs Cemetery, Heber Springs, AR. Mark and Luke Anderson were twins.

Ruth Lee Anderson

Ruth Lee Anderson was the daughter of Felix Thomas "Tom" and Julia Anne Gwaltney. Ruth was born 14 Jan 1902 in Cleburne Co., AR, and died 25 Jan 1987 in Conway, Faulkner Co., AR. She married (1) Claude Vaughn Abt. 1917. She married (2) Joseph Clay "Joe" Griffin 12 Nov 1926 in Union Co., AR, son of Elias Griffin and Mary Morgan. He was born Abt. 1876 in MO, and died 07 Oct 1937 in Heber Springs, Cleburne Co., AR. She married (3) A. M. Trawick 04 Jun 1938 in White Co., AR. He was born Abt. 1870, and died Aft. 1943. She married (4) George B. Brewster Oct 1951. He was born 14 Dec 1872 in KS, and died Abt. 1952. She married (5) Dee Acklin 15 Dec 1955 in Alcorn Co., MS, son of Christopher Acklin and Mollie Protho. He was born 21 Nov 1881 in Faulkner Co., AR, and died 20 May 1961 in AR. She was buried on 29 Jan 1987 in Heber Springs Cemetery, Heber Springs, AR.

The Anderson Family

This was the Anderson Family around 1905. Felix Thomas "Tom" Anderson (1866-1907), his wife Julia Ann Gwaltney (1870-1960), their children, Hattie Mae Anderson (1898-1982) on the left, twins Luke (1905-1981) and Mark Anderson (1905-1969), and Ruth Lee Anderson (1902-1987) on the right. This picture was taken around 1907 shortly before Tom died of pneumonia.
