1910 Tuscarawas Co., OH census

It suddenly occurred to me that I hadn't put anything on this Meeks blog specifically on the Meeks family. So here's a 1910 census record, William Meeks with his family starts on line 17. William Meeks was born in Dec 1866 in Ohio. He married Mary around 1892, and she was b. about 1871. Their children were:

5. Leonard Raymond Meeks, b. 30 Jan 1899 in OH, d. 16 Jun 1991 in Barberton, Summit Co., OH. Leonard was the father of Howard Emerson Meeks.
6. Alfred Meeks, b. abt 1901 in OH, d. 8 Dec 1964 in Summit Co., OH
7. Jesse Meeks, b. abt 1905 in OH.
8. Josephine, b. abt 1909 in OH.

1880 Jasper Co., IL census

James W. Anderson appears with his family in the 1880 Jasper Co., IL census. He is listed with his wife Emma, daughter Martha, son August, and his brother Felix Thomas "Tom". James and Tom were the sons of Felix and Martha Anderson. James was the oldest, and Tom the youngest. Felix died between 1865 and 1870 and Martha apparently died between 1870 and 1880, based on the census records.

1870 Jasper Co., IL census

The Andersons appear in the 1870 Jasper Co., IL census beginning on line 8. Martha married Felix Anderson, who died between 1865 and 1870. Their son Thomas Felix "Tom" Anderson was born 1866 and died in 1907, and he married Julia Anne Gwaltney.

Harvey Smith

Harvey Smith, born 31 Mar 1910 in TX and died 26 Mar 1986, Merced, California. He married Lorine Hubbard in 1930. He was the son of Milton Smith and Izorah Smith.

Roy Anderson and family

Leroy "Roy" Anderson was born Sep 1861 in IL. He was the son of Felix Anderson and Martha. He married Maggie. She was born Feb 1863 in IL, and died Bet. 1900 - 1910.
According to census records, Roy was a locomotive engineer. He was the older brother of Felix Thomas "Tom" Anderson.
Children of Leroy Anderson and Maggie are:
1. Clara Anderson, born Jun 1888 in IL.
2. Edna Anderson, born Jun 1890 in IL.
3. Irene Anderson, born Dec 1894 in IL.

Mystery Photo

This old family photo was found at my husband's grandma's house, and we don't know who he is. We think he could be from the Anderson Family. Felix Thomas "Tom" Anderson had 3 brothers, James W. (b. about 1849 in Indiana), Wilford (b. about 1859 in Illionois), and Leroy "Roy" (b. about 1861 in Illinois). Their father was Felix Anderson, b. about 1827 in Indiana, and died between 1865 and 1870. He married Martha Jane Underwood in 1847, she was born around 1829 in Indiana. There were also 3 daughters, Sarah (b. about 1850 in Indiana) and married Richard Lewis. Susan (b. about 1852 in Indiana). Emma (b. 9 Jul 1858, d. 8 Sep 1940). Emma married George F. Richards. The family was in the 1850 census in Jefferson Co., IN and in the 1860 & 1870 censuses both in Jasper Co., IL. James W. Anderson appears in the 1880 Jasper Co., IL census with his family. Othur Bryan Moore and Claris Lillian Moore and their children

Othur Bryan Moore was the son of Columbus Lewis Moore and Mary Cato. He was born on 14 Feb 1897 in White Co., AR and died 28 Mar 1978 in Cleburne Co., AR. He married Claris Lillian Smith on 13 Apr 1918 in Cleburne Co., AR. She was the daughter of Milton Smith and Izorah Smith. She was born Aug 1897 in AR and died 1971. Othur and Claris are buried in Pearson Cemetery, Pearson, Cleburne Co., AR.
Children of Othur Moore and Claris Smith are:
1. Geraldine "Gerry" Moore, born 05 May 1919 in AR and died 14 Jun 2002 in Las Vegas, Clark Co., NV. She married Jay C. Layson. He was born 4 Dec 1914 in Michigan and died 1 Apr 2002 in Law Vegas, Clark Co., NV.
2. Cletis Laverne Moore, born 03 Sep 1921 in Pearson, Cleburne Co., AR and died 07 Oct 2005 in Conway, Faulkner Co., AR. He married Erjauna Claydeen Griffin 04 Apr 1943 in Heber Springs, Cleburne Co., AR. She was born 15 Jan 1928 in Shawnee, Pottawatomie Co., OK. Cletis is buried in Thorn Cemetery in Greenbrier, AR.
3. Max L. Moore, born 30 Apr 1922 in Pearson, Cleburne Co., AR and died of a heart attack on 24 May 1980 in Jacksonville, Pulaski Co., AR. He married (1) Jacqueline. He married (2) Pauline L. Freeman. He always went by Max L., but the L. did not stand for anything. He was a Cleburne Co., AR tax assessor. He is buried in Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Jacksonville, AR.
4. Juanita Moore, born Abt. 1926 in AR. She married (1) Tony Mastromatteo. She married (2) Jack about 1999.
5. Ferrel D. Moore, born 16 May 1929 in AR and died 19 Nov 2002 in Wayne Co., MI. He married Shirley Townsend. He is buried in Pearson Cemetery, Pearson, Cleburne Co., AR.
6. Kenneth Moore, born 29 Jan 1932 in Pearson, Cleburne Co., AR. He married Maudine Swinea on 02 May 1953 in Heber Springs, Cleburne Co., AR.
7. Richard L. Moore, born 31 Aug 1934 in Pearson, Cleburne Co., AR and died 19 Oct 1992. He married Jean. He is buried in Pearson Cemetery, Pearson, Cleburne Co., AR.
8. Othadean "Dean" Moore, born 15 Apr 1937 in Pearson, Cleburne Co., AR and died of pulminary fibrosis on 11 May 2003 in Conway, Faulkner Co., AR. She married John D. Cain on 07 Jul 1955. He was born 29 Nov 1933 and died 23 Sep 1996. They are buried in McGintytown Cemetery, Greenbrier, Faulkner Co., AR.

The Moores had two houses burn down where they lost everything. In one fire, a man was going by the house and saw the fire. Knowing that no one was home, he broke one of the windows to try to save something. The fire was so bad, all he could save was a photo album that was on a table by a window. One of the fires started after they got electricity, and mice chewed through the electrical wires. The family lost everything in both fires, including many family keepsakes.

The Smith Family

Milton Smith, son of Addison Smith, was born 06 Jan 1878 in AR and died 18 Nov 1929 of tuberculosis. He married Izorah Smith on 02 Aug 1896 in Cleburne Co., AR. She was the daughter of Newton Smith and Sarah Frances Mitchell. She was born 18 Jun 1877 in Pearson, Cleburne Co., AR and died 26 Jun 1961 in Cleburne Co., AR. Milton and Izorah are buried in Pearson Cemetery, Pearson, Cleburne Co., AR. This photo was taken around 1910 in Red River County, Texas. Pictured left to right, Izorah holding Carl, Agnes, Claris, Horace in front, and Milton.

Cletis L. Moore & Erjauna C. Griffin

Grandma Moore (Erjauna) told me that when she was younger, Cletis walked her home one time and told her that one day he was going to marry her. He used to travel for his job, and he would come back home to Arkansas, and she would forget about whatever boy it was she was interested at the time, to be with him. Erjauna's name was spelled wrong on their marriage license because Cletis never could spell it right until they'd been married several years. Cletis Moore & Erjauna Griffin were married on 4 Apr 1943 in Heber Springs, Cleburne Co., AR. This photo was taken when they lived in Michigan, and they celebrated their 25th anniversary in 1968.
